Zoo Loups de Chabrières
(About 45 minutes drive from Les Fresses)
This special animal park is located in the vast forest of Chabrières, near the town of Guéret. Once home to European gray wolves, you can now admire several wolf breeds up close. There are also foxes, wild boars, deer and even alpacas that roam freely around the grounds.
The park offers a unique opportunity to learn all about these fascinating animals. There are educational programs, interactive sessions and regular feeding demonstrations. We went there once with our niece and nephew and saw the wolves being fed – a super fun experience!
Be sure to visit La Maison du Loup, the small museum on the grounds. There you can discover everything about the behavior, habitat and history of the wolf in Europe. The park has a restaurant, a playground and plenty of picnic areas, making it a great destination for a relaxing day out with the whole family.
Tip
Combine your visit to the zoo with a walk through the Labyrinthe Géant de Guéret, the largest beech hedge maze in Europe! Just a 10-minute drive from Loups de Chabrières, it’s an adventure in itself – with games along the way and surprises around every corner. Perfect to end (or start) the day!
